Swift Payments
When you want to make an international payment to a recipient in a currency other than their local currency, you'll need to send it by Swift.
You may, for example, want to send US dollars (USD) to China, pound sterling (GBP) to Australia, or euros (EUR) to Thailand. Similarly, where local currency payments are not possible GlobalWebPay can make these in USD, EUR and in some cases GBP depending on the destination country.
The Swift international payment network is one of the largest financial messaging systems in the world. It enables secure, standardised cross border payments by transmitting payment instructions between over 11,500 institutions across more than 200 countries.
What does it cost?
Use the calculator on this page to see whether your recipient destination accepts alternative currencies, and if so check the exchange rate and fixed fee charged by GlobalWebPay.
Since Swift international transfers may route through multiple banks, these correspondent or intermediate banks could deduct a fee from the transferred amount.
The recipient's bank will also charge a fee to process the incoming payment. The cost of these fees varies from bank to bank and is unknown to GlobalWebPay.
How long will the transfer take?
Swift transfers usually take 1-5 business days to complete. The exact time depends on the currencies involved, time zone differences, banking cut-off times, and whether the transfer requires routing through intermediary correspondent banks.
Anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and other compliance checks will extend the processing time, especially for large transfers or if information like the recipient’s BIC/SWIFT code is missing or incorrect.
